The 56MW Moree Solar Farm is located in Northern NSW. CATCON was contracted to perform all civil and mechanical works on the 11 month project including; establishment of site compound, upgrade of external road in accordance with the Local Shire requirements, security fencing, construction of all internal roads, construction of substation bench, installation of 32,000 screw piles, installation of 2,800 NexTracker assemblies, installation of 224,000 PV modules and construction of O&M Facility.
KPI’s needed to be met daily to achieve the project completion date. At various times during the project; 250 piles, 30 tracker assemblies and 2,500 PV modules were installed daily to meet KPI’s and the project was delivered on time and on budget with the client pleased with the end product.
Planetary drive units were used to install the 32,000 screw piles. Other major plant used throughout the project included excavators and telehandlers. The site is located on black soils, when soils became wet during winter months, access to site became very difficult and heavy to work in.
