The Snowtown Wind Farm Stage II project was located approximately 150km North of Adelaide in South Australia. CATCON was contracted to construct the 90 turbine foundations, hardstands, road network, site compound and substation and control centre civil works.
A mix of rock anchor (130m3) and gravity (320m3) footings were used depending on the requirements for each turbine site. The rock anchors (8 per foundation) were drilled up to 20m in depth where required. The WTG foundations were poured on a tight schedule over a 9 month period during which the region experienced one of its wettest winters on record.
