Completed in 4 stages, the King William Street Upgrade works for the Adelaide City Council consisted of; the supply and installation of new electrical and communication conduit banks, stormwater drainage system, new gas main service, construction of new kerbs, resupply pavements and construction of new slate paving. The slate pavers measured 500x500mm and were laid on mortar in client specified patterns.
King William Street, being one of the busiest roads in Adelaide required extensive traffic and pedestrian management over the course of the project. CATCON were required to work with stakeholders to ensure minimal interruptions to businesses and commuters. A night shift was implemented, with some of the more significant elements of the project being completed at night to avoid disruption.
