Safety Policy

It is the policy of CATCON that all operations are carried out in compliance with statutory requirements, established standards and our own safety principles and rules to ensure the health and safety of all personnel on CATCON’s worksites.
Every employee has no more important duty or responsibility than to ensure that his or her work is carried out safely.

CATCON strives to provide and promote conditions of work that facilitate a safe and healthy environment for every employee, and is committed to establishing measurable objectives and targets to ensure continual improvement aimed at elimination of workplace injury and illness.

CATCON recognises that the health, safety and welfare of its employees are of paramount importance to the organisation.  Management is responsible for taking all reasonable and practical action to achieve and maintain a standard which safeguards the health, safety and welfare of all employees whilst complying with all statutory requirements and relevant Australian standards.

CATCON undertakes to consult with employees regarding the development of systems and procedures and changes to systems and procedures that affect health and safety at work.

CATCON shall

  • Continuously develop and improve the safety management system in order to  achieve and retain third party certification to the requirements of AS/NZS 4801-2001 and the Federal Safety Commission
  • involve employees in developing and maintaining the highest standards of workplace safety
  • aim to ensure that no injuries and no damage result from our activities
  • develop safe work methods in consultation with site personnel, ensuring that safe work methods take into account all the hazards of the site and the task; implement safe work methods uniformly and consistently; review safe work methods periodically
  • train and develop managers and supervisors as leaders in maintaining a safe workplace, and support them with adequate specialist advice, training and resources
  • ensure that suppliers and subcontractors achieve and maintain the same standards of safety management and performance as are required of CATCON personnel
  • implement a rehabilitation and return to work procedure that aims to ensure that injured personnel are returned to work as quickly as possible
